Considering using #unqlite for the #linuxpda #database #library https://unqlite.org/ It seems #small , #simple #cpp , #selfcontained , #nosql , etc. Quite impressed. Unfortunately it seems like it has a non permissable #license that requires #payment https://github.com/symisc/unqlite It's not even clear it could be easily #distributed under this #license ...
Something else I have #considered is the #sqlite #database #library - but it is absolutely massive: https://sqlite.org/index.html I really suspect it will not easily fit into the #ram of such a small #iot #device - considering also all the other things we intend to run.

Regarding the #linuxpda #project , I am seriously considering the M5 #stack #core 2 #esp 32 #iot #device https://shop.m5stack.com/products/m5stac.. Okay, it's not #linux , but otherwise it offers everything else I am looking for currently. The ability to program it through the #arduino #environment should also rapidly improve #development too. I had a really good experience (minus some bugs) working on the #digispark !

I wonder about the possibility of using a #supercapacity as a low #energydensity #lipo #replacement for some very #lowpower #mobile #device such as a #linuxpda https://hackaday.com/2021/12/01/supercap.. Sure you won't get as much #energy per gram, but you get ultra #reliable operating and fast #charging (seconds).

Interesting #criticism of #remarkable 2 and why this person returned it: https://offbyone.us/posts/remarkable/ A great point about the #eink #device *not* being an #ereader ...

Pretty jealous of the M5 #paper #eink #display #iot #device based on the #esp 32 https://hackaday.com/2021/11/12/m5paper-.. Here they are using it as a pretty sleek #weather #monitor ! It's just really well made.

It appears as though some #telecom #companies are collecting #sim #usage #data - including #information about the #device they are running on! https://scribe.rip/telecom-expert/what-i.. Apparently #atandt are doing this for sure. It's just a #reminder that a #simcard is actually a tiny little #computer with a #cpu , #ram , #disk , etc.

Would you look at that, #apple have #released a new #cpu for their #device line-up: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2021/10/i.. Apparently most of the #innovation went into more #gpu and more #video #codecs ...

Wow, a #gang in #yorkshire #uk used a 20k #device #disguised as a #gameboy to #unlock people's #cars and #steal them! https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leed.. Insanely bad, but insanely cool.

Looks like there could be a #competitor to #pine 's #pinetime https://hackaday.com/2021/10/05/hackable.. Seems like this tiny #smart #watch runs on #js - seems like a nice little #opensource #device ! Double the #price of a #pinetime though: https://hackaday.com/2021/10/05/hackable..

Okay, that's a pretty cool little #usb #hdmi #device https://ograblog.wordpress.com/2021/09/2.. It's a shame the #author then goes on to add the #bash #script to #snap - screw snap!

Very interesting, a #linux #distribution aimed at #arm #chromebooks https://tuxphones.com/cadmium-linux-for-.. Could be worth considering for #pine 's #pinetab #device - that thing desperately needs a better #os !

I saw some #lenovo #smart #alarm #clock in the #shop the other day and I was pretty #impressed - for just $70 or so you got this very powerful smart #device ... Only problem is, they are always #spying on you: https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2021/09/alexa-l.. For this reason, I can definitely see the want for a #linux #opensource #decentralized version of this kind of smart #home device.

Really seems like #pine 's #pinephone is really getting close now: https://www.ahoneycutt.me/blog/pinephone.. Still looks like it needs work to become a #dailydriver - I think at this rate I might have more success with my #linuxpda #device I want to build.

Seems like some progress is being made in creating a #linux #pda #device using #palmos https://pmig96.wordpress.com/2021/04/29/.. The #raspberrypi 4 is insanely overpowered for this task of course. Regarding my own #linuxpda project, I believe I will look at developing on the #pine #pinetab for now as it's finally in some workable state.

Very cool idea to #upcycle an old #ereader to be a #display for a #typewriter like #device https://github.com/olup/kobowriter I suspect in the coming year we will see more and more of these #upcycle #hacks whilst the #chipshortage rages...

#apple has now delayed the #csam rollout after pressure from around the world: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/09/03/app.. Still, it is only delayed, not cancelled. Apple can officially not be trusted, this backdoor into your #device *will* be #exploited ... I understand their intentions are good, but even the best of intentions can lead to the worst of #consequences - just look at #communism !
