#paperdink is a nice #competitor in the #esp 32 #eink #display #market https://paperd.ink/ Definitely worth keeping an eye out for this #device !

Very cool #palmos #pda #smart #watch from 2003: https://lunduke.substack.com/p/the-palmo.. The #specifications are pretty #similar to the #espresiff #esp 32!

Nice #esp 32 #espressif #vm to allow #dynamic #loading of #programs https://hackaday.com/2022/02/27/esp32-vi.. This is exactly what I intended with the #linuxpda #project ! I think the better option here is likely still #webasm if we can ensure it remains small enough.

Regarding the #linuxpda #project , I am seriously considering the M5 #stack #core 2 #esp 32 #iot #device https://shop.m5stack.com/products/m5stac.. Okay, it's not #linux , but otherwise it offers everything else I am looking for currently. The ability to program it through the #arduino #environment should also rapidly improve #development too. I had a really good experience (minus some bugs) working on the #digispark !
Regarding the #linuxpda #project - I wrote a #coffeespace #article about the #proposal of using an M5 #stack #core 2 #esp 32 #iot #device https://coffeespace.org.uk/projects/linu.. Now, I have finally #purchased one! https://shop.m5stack.com/products/m5stac.. It was about $75 #nzd in the end, but it is a project I am passionate about. Apparently at the time of writing, there is now only 1 left! So it's a good job I ordered it when I did!

Okay, this #matrix #digitalrain #effect is pretty cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6gGK4L4.. There is some #documentation and #links over on #hackaday detailing how insanely simple this #hack is to pull off! https://hackaday.com/2021/11/17/arduino-.. Looks like it can be easily done on an #esp 8266 or ESP32 device!

Pretty jealous of the M5 #paper #eink #display #iot #device based on the #esp 32 https://hackaday.com/2021/11/12/m5paper-.. Here they are using it as a pretty sleek #weather #monitor ! It's just really well made.

Ouch, it appears the #espressif #esp 32 has a #bluetooth #bug that allows #rce https://hackaday.com/2021/09/23/bluetoot.. I absolutely dread to think what is #vulnerable in their #wifi #stack !

Very cool #weather #station using an #espressif #esp 8266: https://hackaday.com/2021/08/23/nothing-.. In the future I want to build out a tonne of these little connected #iot devices with #displays - I imagine it could be an awesome way to get #notifications around your house for example, or control some global properties. They also offer a fair amount of #computation and could be even smarter given a chance to do some #distributed #computation !

I really like the idea of #minimalist #dumb #phones https://www.wsj.com/articles/minimalist-.. Something with a #keypad and an #esp 32 would be absolutely #ideal for me. It's a shame the #wiphone never really got to a price where I would be willing to buy it...

Insanely cool project driving 6 #vga #displays from a single #esp 32 ! https://hackaday.com/2021/08/18/running-.. It appears to use a #dma #buffer meaning that the main core(s) are left entirely free for other #computation !

Pretty cool to see the #esp 32 running the #linux #kernel https://www.cnx-software.com/2021/07/18/.. It's not yet #opensource or #documented in any way, and is all in #chinese , but it at least seems to be possible!

A great use for a #esp device: https://hackaday.com/2021/05/27/wifi-pen.. I suspect my network wouldn't hold up so well. I wonder whether it is possible to re-task an army of ESP8266/ESP32 devices to perform some interesting tasks that generally help people?
