#amd have just released a 32 bit #riscv #cpu - very #outoftheblue https://www.xilinx.com/products/design-t.. Apparently it is because they #purchased #xilinx and #microblaze is a 20 year old #architecture from them.
Wow, this new #phone #supports #riscv https://tuxphones.com/risc-v-phone-rvpho.. The benefit over this on top of a #linux #pda type #device is that it also supports #vocal and #text #messages , instead of just #data . Interesting that they are using #espressif 's #esp 32 #wifi and #bluetooth #module for additional #connectivity .
These tiny little 10 #cent #mcu #microcontroller #chips are pretty cool: https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/10/22/.. I'd love to see them create a mini #arduino #riscv #alternative , that could be seriously cool!
Well damn, the new #espressif #esp 32 #microcontroller supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz #wifi , #bluetooth and runs on #riscv https://www.espressif.com/en/news/ESP32-.. Very interesting!
Interesting, #mips are making better #progress in the #riscv space: https://www.mips.com/ Maybe they could have a comeback, maybe not. We'll have to keep an eye on it. The most important thing will be getting #linux #support and getting some #dev #boards out there. MIPS used to be massive in the #router space.
Interesting new #riscv based #linux #sbc called #licheerv from #sipeed https://hackaday.com/2022/01/06/new-part.. It leverages something I thought about all of the time, which is #modules ... #pine made a #mistake not doing this with their #product line. It may be worth considering this in the future for the #linuxpda #project !
Nice, we might be getting some #riscv #opensource #linux #phones soon! https://tuxphones.com/sipeed-rv64-first-.. I will definitely keep an eye on this coming out of #sipeed !
Interesting new #riscv #sbc offering by #sifive https://www.sifive.com/boards/hifive-unm.. Quite a capable little #desktop board - but is $650+! Hopefully that price point comes down in the future for a *development* board (i.e. not even fully working).
Interesting, #espressif - the makers of popular #iot devices like the ESP8266 and ESP32 have just released the ESP32-H2, this time sporting #zigbee 3.x and #thread 1.x https://hackaday.com/2021/08/04/new-part.. And this all still runs on #riscv ! Very cool!
