#amd have just released a 32 bit #riscv #cpu - very #outoftheblue https://www.xilinx.com/products/design-t.. Apparently it is because they #purchased #xilinx and #microblaze is a 20 year old #architecture from them.
I #suspect that this move to create a brand new #programming #language will result in the #death of #serenityos https://awesomekling.github.io/Memory-sa.. Not only do you now need to #learn a new #os #architecture , you also need to learn a new #software #language . I believe this creates too much of a #barrier for new people to come in and work on this #project .
Interesting #dicussion regarding #simultaneous #multithreading and #modern #cpu #architecture - specifically regarding #bugs such as #spectre and #meltdown https://utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks/space/blog.. Will definitely be worth considering this if designing my own #cloud #infrastructure in the future!

It's entirely possible it has really non-elegant handling of #memoryleaks ... Compared to previous CPUs that Apple have used, #arm does not have a proper #memory #handler - it's entirely possible they do not yet fully understand their own #system .Ouch, it appears that #apple 's new M1 A1 #cpu #architecture is plagued with #memoryleaks https://www.macworld.com/article/549755/.. You'd think they would stick the thing through a bloody #profiler and #staticanalysis ...

#intel might actually be back on the board now: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/11/.. The #biglittle #cpu #architecture is pretty interesting and pretty obvious too. Glad to see it's working out!
Weird to see that even in #retrospect we still can't really undertand #intel 's decision making: https://dfarq.homeip.net/286-vs-386sx/ I have personally spent a considerable amount of time coding for the 386 #cpu #architecture - I personally quite like it.
Interesting, #amd are looking to replace #intel 's X86 #cpu #architecture https://www.extremetech.com/computing/32.. Apparently it boils down to just being another #biglittle design, but is still pretty exciting.
