Yeah you probably shouldn't be using MD5 #hashes anymore: https://github.com/corkami/collisions It seems now #trivial to #generate #collisions - very cool for #cracking old #technology . We can now make *some* SHA1 #collisions happen, I imagine in the #future we can make #hash #collisions happen trivially for something like #git or for #password checking.
A great list of #science and #technology #links https://lemire.me/blog/2022/08/07/scienc.. Notably, #alzheimer #research on the #amyloid #hypothesis was #fabricated . #depression was supposed to be low #serotonin - but this is #false . Due to #carbondioxide abundance, the #earth is getting #greener and will likely lead to #substantial #cooling .
Excellent #article on why #modern #technology sucks: https://newsletter.danhon.com/archive/s1..
Huh, some old #solarpanel #technology #invented by #georgecove may be the way forwards: https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2021/10/.. Would be awesome if it is! Apparently these #panels are a lot more easy to #recycle - something that current #solar #installations fail at!
This #eink business appears to be getting real nice, especially with the ability to #sketch like some advanced #paper https://www.bit-101.com/blog/2021/10/ske.. The #wacom #layer appears to be where it's at too, a #technology that #pine 's #pinenote went with too.
Oops, look like a #us #soldier took a #photo of #topsecret #military #aircraft #technology and posted it to #china controlled #tiktok https://warisboring.com/secret-military-.. Apparently it might be the X-47: https://www.rumblerum.com/northrop-grumm..
Just a little reminder that the #internet #technology and #software we use today - may not work tomorrow: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/09/10/tech/.. In this case a tonne of of important 9/11 #footage cannot be easily accessed as it is in #adobe #flash ... I imagine this *exact* problem for #javascript in the future once we move fully to #wasm ... It will simply be disabled due to #security . Long live #html though!
This is something I'm going to miss with old #technology - how easily it can be #repaired https://www.cnx-software.com/2021/09/06/.. You can physically see the #damage - i.e. a burned out #capacitor or #resistor and simply replace it. New #soc designs will be nearly impossible to repair - I dread to think about fixing some of these devices in 10 years time or so.
Whilst I agree with #st that #ar #glasses are for sure a future #computing #platform - it might still be too early: https://www.eetimes.eu/st-sees-ar-glasse.. #vr for example got #reinvented *several times* before #technology caught up. What I want to see is ST put an #opensource platform in the hands of #hackers - see what #innovation is created and then #commercialize it.

I was slightly taken aback by the introduction of #modern #technology - I hope it doesn't lose itself. Still, quite a few episodes to get through as yet.Watching a new #anime called #plunderer - on #episode 3 and I am so far quite impressed, it started off strong. Seems like an interesting #universe with interesting characters.
The #smartereveryday series onboard a #nuclear #submarine has been pretty awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFJnWp1t.. I remember getting some behind the scenes #uk #military information years ago, it's very interesting to understand how these things work. It's not just about #technology - but the #genius layers of #sops (standard #operating #procedures ) that surrounds it.
