We really should do something about these #chinese #ccp #rockets falling from #space #uncontrolled *all the time* in #random locations: https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/h.. Apparently the #ccp has so little regard for human life that they allow their #rockets to #fail #launches onto their own people.

#modulo #bias is quite an interesting #problem https://research.kudelskisecurity.com/20.. #rejection is cool, but then you have a #random #function that doesn't #return in #fixed #time . Might be worth investigating.

#tldr #news #report on another #attempted #assassination of a #politician and short of a #random #failure would have #killed the #vice #president of #argentia https://youtube.com/watch?v=k10LLo3PcXQ This comes not long after an #assassination in #japan . The last time we had so many #highprofile #assassinations was #wwi and #wwii .

Looks like the #kremlin is running out of friends... The #russian #police are now stopping #random #civilians and #reading their #messages to try to #threaten them into #silence https://twitter.com/KevinRothrock/status.. All that will happen is people will just start #deleting their #messages after reading them... Or figure out other ways of #communicating .

Potentially something interesting here about using #random #data to #train #models https://www.unite.ai/training-computer-v.. We essentially actually did this for #xyolo https://arxiv.org/abs/1910.03159 The #input #weights were meant for a completely different #network - but we found they were #random enough that they actually served as an #accelerator for our #network !

Really nice #discussion about providing #json #output for #cli #utilities https://blog.kellybrazil.com/2021/12/03/.. The previous method was some kind of #random #formatting that was always hard to #parse and had little #consistency !

#random #thought - We should keep a large #asteroid #orbiting the #earth and fling it at anything that comes to close. It makes much more sense to make use of something with a lot of #mass and #energy than to try and put something from the #surface up into #orbit ... The only thing is ensuring that it is #maintainable and #future #safe .

So, it turns out that even a #hamster can #outperform the largest #stockmarkets https://markets.businessinsider.com/news.. It even beat out #bitcoin ... It has zero exposure to any information about the #markets - but is significantly outperforming them. It's literally just #random ...

I can attest to #firefox 's #bugs on #android https://blog.nori.moe/firefox-for-androi.. Every time I #rotate the #display it #crashes and opens a #random new #tab from a previously " #securely " closed #session ... It's not even supposed to be possible.

Yeah... #deadsocial is 100% vulnerable to #csrf https://simonwillison.net/2021/Aug/3/sam.. I have a better solution for this problem though, where every requested page whilst logged in also sends a #random #token per #form that needs to be sent back with the #user #session #cookie . The reason for not using #http #headers is that not *every* browser supports them.

Currently listening to #javanewscast - a short #java #podcast - in which I am hearing about #random number #factory generators, it seems like Java is getting overly complicated. Now you can't even guarantee that *any* random number generator exists, especially if you want a specific implementation. #jfr or #jdk #flightrecorder seems like an interesting #debug #tool - but again it's pretty complicated. I'm starting to miss the original simplicity of Java...

I have seen the #xorshift #algorithm for #rng before, it seems to be pretty damn fast: https://thompsonsed.co.uk/random-number-.. It's not #crypto #secure and does suffer some #repeat problems: https://www.pcg-random.org/posts/xoshiro.. But in general it is pretty good and combined with a high #entropy source it could be relatively #random too.

Just a quick reminder not to pay the #randomware #random https://venturebeat.com/2021/06/16/cyber.. Apparently 80% of the #organizations that pay end up getting hit again.
