Just finishing #watching #netflix 's 2017 #deathnote , and it really doesn't do the #original #anime any #justice at all. The #original #anime was like a game of #chess being played out by #kira and L, but they completely #fail to capture this. It really should have been a #tv #series . It's really amazing that they messed up such a deep and interesting #ip .

I watched the new #matrix #film and I'm not impressed. It was essentially a #nostalgia trip, some #handwaiving about how certain things happened, they are #afraid to let #characters #die (unlike the #original films) - I don't think there was a single original #scene in the whole thing. There are infinitely better stories that could have been done, for example #neo #recursing through the #matrix #layers and #rebuilding #humanity . #trinity should have remained #dead - it was just too weird to bring her back.
The #latest #season 13 #episode 6 of #doctorwho was weird. It kind of #promotes #genocide as a #solution to problems... I remember the #original #doctor *really* grappling with issues, I remember it being a real #moral issues for him. Now it just seems to be #partandparcel and part of the job.
The latest #season 13 #episode 3 of #doctorwho is quite interesting, it appears like a return to the #original #doctor #formula ... I really hope so. It's a little rough around the edges, but it might have found itself again. It's just such a shame that they wrote themselves into a box regarding the #plot . The new #dune #movie was #visually really well put together, but #story wise was awful. It compresses two/three movies into one, missing a bunch of *really* important details that make it actually make sense. Probably the worst #sin is the loss of the #colonialism #context the #original Dune series had. There's just no #investment , no #loyalty . The #betrayals don't make sense because we never know of a deep understanding.
Interesting, the #internal #psp #bios runs old #playstation #games better than the one in the #original #console https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3L76mqK8.. Looks like #sony made some #improvements to the #firmware ! Looking forward to a quick #win for #emulation !
I like how many #original #hacks there are recently, this time with a 3D #printer that #prints #upsidedown https://hackaday.com/2021/08/03/stranges.. I assume that such a design could even end up #cheaper too with some thinking.
