#ubuntu #snap #updates are a #killer #feature - by which I mean, they are goign to #kill #ubuntu https://smaller.fish/posts/snap_updates You get tonnes of #notifications , you finally take #notice and #shutdown the #app , and it *still doesn't #update after.* It happens *only* on a #schedule , which will always be at the *worst* time. How can you possible use #ubuntu #snap on any long-running task? I am switching #os because of this #feature , it is a #darkpattern .

It's cumbersome and encourages people to #bypass it. To #login to some of my #accounts , I need receive three phone calls. I never check the #number and just do the #operations of the #keypad without #listening . I even thought about #scripting this process.

What a pain in the arse it is these days to get an #rss #feed for a #youtube #channel so that you can actually consume the #content you want to see, rather than the #dumb #notifications #system they have which is always #deleting stuff.
I want to grab a #nap - but I know my #phone #alarm does not work correctly and cannot be relied upon. For some reason my #android #smartphone believes it should not go off between the hours of #midnight and 6am or so. I think it's the same mechanism that also pauses #youtube #notifications , etc, but it's super annoying that it #ignores an alarm *I* set. I'm not setting it for no reason. Anyway, for this reason I cannot grab a little #sleep ... Instead I drink even more #coffee ... Pushing for 9am!

In the future I want to build out a tonne of these little connected #iot devices with #displays - I imagine it could be an awesome way to get #notifications around your house for example, or control some global properties. They also offer a fair amount of #computation and could be even smarter given a chance to do some #distributed #computation !
