Interesting, apparently #china 's #research #funds into #silicon #chips has actually been spent on #holidays #abroad , several #trillion of it: https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/c.. You won't see much of this in a #western #university though, these #funds are tightly checked. #staff still take #holidays when at a #conference , but out of their own pockets.

Sounds like the #silicon #chip #shortage is still going strong, with #toyota looking to slash global #production by 40% https://www.bbc.com/news/business-582667.. I suspect their internal #stockpiles are now depleted... And this is why many Countries need their *own* #manufacturing and not to rely on #china - who are now purposely restricting #foreign #export for in-house use.
