Numbers are in: Despite moving to a new #server and removing the #git #repositories , the #coffeespace #website appears to still be getting large amounts of #traffic in the 20k+ range and highs of 35k. A large amount of traffic is still from #bots / #crawlers - and these numbers of #inflated - but it doesn't appear to have gone down.
Pretty awesome to see #java continuing to #improve as a #language - not only in #features but also in #speed / #performance ! https://www.optaplanner.org/blog/2021/09.. As others have pointed out, Java can be a bit screwy due to breaking support between versions 8 and 9. A lot of people are stuck using Java 8, like this #server is due to #string support.
I did once run #cgit but it's simply too bloody #slow - even on a much higher end #server https://landchad.net/cgit I need a better solution for hosting #git #repositories ... Something #lightweight that simply creates #static #pages ... I did try a while back with #gitpage - but it didn't work so well. I might try write a new simpler version so that I can #mirror #repos more easily.
Well, this explains why my #scaleway #billing was increased and by old C1 #server #depreciated - they were building a super cool #nuclear #fallout #shelter #datacentre https://blog.scaleway.com/meet-fr-par-3/ I really wouldn't mind a #server in such a location!
Strange, it appears that some of the people behind the #freenode #hostiletakeover and now starting up a new #irc #server named #ergo https://ergo.chat/ The IRC world is pretty small it seems. I personally will stick with #libera for a while. After this I think I might checkout the possibility of building a simple #telnet #server and #client and be done with IRC entirely. That will likely be down the road though!
Apparently the #hackernews #server is run like this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=160.. But apparently since 2018, it now gets 6M daily #requests https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=284.. #coffeespace gets about 30k requests per day, or 0.5% of their daily #traffic - wow! Joke is, I run my #vps at a fraction of the cost and resources...

Just got my last #scaleway #bill for my C1 #instance - sad times. On the plus side, I'm spending now per *year* what I have been previously been spending every *two months* - massive savings. This #server *just about* is good enough for what I need.

Okay, I *need* to #migrate #coffeespace #today ! The #server gets #shutdown and there is *alot* to be moved... Ouch. After a few meetings I will need to work on it.
