Very interesting #tiny little #lithium #batteries that can be #soldered to a #pcb https://hackaday.com/2022/11/15/new-part.. I would definitely be interested in these. Could make for a nice #watch of #portable #device #battery , espeically when you use a few of them!

Woah, these #weird #data #types are the sort of things that keep me up at night! https://begriffs.com/posts/2018-11-15-c-.. Seems almost #impossible to write #portable #code !

Nice, it seems like the #kernel is taking #portable #arm #computers quite seriously, even asking for more devices to be supported: https://tuxphones.com/linux-kernel-needs.. It seems clear at this point that #arm and other #lowpower #cpu #architectures will play a large part in the future.

The #tpm #module that the new #windows 11 requires that you have seems like a super pain in the arse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW2zHvVO.. It essentially moves the #encryption problem around and I believe will just result to making #laptops and other #portable #devices be more #closedsource ... For example, tricking the #tpm into thinking it is running on a specific #configuration just moves the #goalposts towards #stateactors to hack into machines. A better solution is still required.

Awesome, #valve 's #steamdeck has just launched, a #portable #computer for #gaming https://www.steamdeck.com/en/ Could be interesting if it runs #linux at this price!

Interesting discussion on reducing the cost of building #housing https://austinvernon.eth.link/blog/const.. I suspect #portable / #flatpack #homes in more #rural places could become a bigger thing.
