This genuinely annoys the living hell out of me: https://www.reuters.com/legal/amazon-dup.. #amazon are being #sued *rightfully* by the #ftc for #darkpatterns in their #ui to rob their #customers of #millions . All other Coutnries including the #uk must do the same, it's insane. We all deserve better.
Looks like #mozilla 's #thunderbird #email #client is getting a massive #overhaul to the #ui - and hopefully the #backend too: https://blog.thunderbird.net/2022/06/thu..
Yeah... #text #rendering and #ui #design around #fonts is *really* tough: https://gankra.github.io/blah/text-hates.. For this reason alone, #deadsocial only supports 7 bit #ascii - the reason being that it's better off #supporting a #subset really well, rather than a #superset really badly... I do not envy the lost #souls that work in such areas...
Interesting #discussion by #drewdevault on #accessibility of #ui https://drewdevault.com/2022/02/13/Frami.. Not something I typically consider...
I think I could be #convinced that #lvgl is the way to go for the #ui of the #linuxpda project: https://github.com/lvgl/lvgl 64kB of #flash and 16kB of #ram is quite reasonable.
Apparently #tumblr are doing something fucky with #keyboard #input https://twitter.com/foone/status/1440014.. There is absolutely no need to #override something that already works *fine* ... I think they pay these #ui people way too much. The #hackernews #comments are a great read too: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=286..
Generally seems like a good idea for #gnome to #cleanup their #design #ui https://blogs.gnome.org/alexm/2021/09/10..
Further attacks by #google on #rss #feeds https://www.theregister.com/2021/08/16/g.. Apparently #googlegroups no longer supports it. I suspect this systematic disappearance of RSS by Google services is entirely on purpose, as it allows people to scrape content without interacting with their #darkpattern #ui ...
Interesting #youtube #alternative #frontend #ui https://github.com/TeamPiped/Piped I've been wanting something like this for myself... Perhaps to run on this server.
Haha a great collection of #volume #ui #controls to point out what bad #ux looks like: https://uxdesign.cc/the-worst-volume-con..
#theexpanse really did the #ui design really well: https://www.hudsandguis.com/home/2021/th.. Some comments mention that the most unrealistic thing is always that the UI is actually *too* easy to use. You rarely see people getting frustrated that they cannot complete some task as expected.
