Another test #message from the #deadsocial #gui ... The #plan is to make using the #website #offline possible (as often happens with the bad #internet ) that we have where I live.
Just has a mini #power #cut (<250ms) - none of my #systems went #offline - success! On the other hand, I did notice that it did #correlate with #issues with the #internet #connection too.
The idea of #printing a #website for #offline and #indefinite #reading is actually pretty cool: https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2021/12/.. When I have more #article on #coffeespace I'll consider it! The #opinions will then be #forever #outdated !
Very interesting P2P #message #sharing #offline via an #android #app named #briar https://briarproject.org/news/2021-briar.. Apparently the purpose is to #bypass #internet #shutdown ! Very interesting #app indeed.
An interesting #idea is to make #deadsocial #operate entirely #offline - where the #server is not even #required in order to use the #service ... I will have a think on this after my #phd #deadline ! This was always the goal with this #system anyway!
This could be quite a #compelling #socialmedia #alternative https://www.manyver.se/ As others have pointed out, a #offline mode is a good indication of proper #decentralization ... #scuttlebutt seems like a pretty cool system, although its reliance on #blockchain means that it is doomed to be a #storage nightmare. Bloody hell, the #maintainer / #owner of https://archive.is is burning $3k/$4k every month out of pocket: https://blog.archive.today/post/65938395.. I did one create a micro #archive that saved an ultra #compressed version of a #webpage in a #datauri #link that could be used #offline and #embedded into the webpage itself. Maybe I should release this tool...
Awesome project to #decentralize the #internet for #offline #learning in remote places: http://internet-in-a-box.org/ I would personally like to see such an idea adapted slightly to offer decentralized updates and privacy/security for those who use it.
