Really cool #story about #nasa #solving a #vibration #display #text #problem simply with some #strobing https://gizmodo.com/how-nasa-solved-a-10.. In the #hackernews #comments is a great #story about testing empty #cereal boxes with a #fan https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=344.. Genius!

This is such a cool #homemade #rocket #project https://hackaday.com/2022/12/02/the-amat.. What is there not to love? One of these days! Would be pretty spicey to beat #nasa to another #planet for example.

Normally #crashing is not a good thing, but in this case we see #nasa purposefully #crashing into an #asteroid to test their ability to change it's #trajectory https://hackaday.com/2022/09/26/watch-na.. This will provide #valuable #data in figuring out how to prevent #collisions with the #earth in the #future . Quite a cool moment!

Huh, looks like #nasa almost lost #contact with their little #helicopter , but then #resurrected it from the brink of #death https://arstechnica.com/science/2022/05/.. Those #batteries are getting *ultra* #cold on #mars . It probably won't last much longer...

Woah, #nasa are going to test the idea of purposely #crashing a #spacecraft into an #asteroid in order to change its #trajectory https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/nas.. This is part of a #planet #defence #strategy for stopping something smashing into the #earth ...

#kamalaharris is really weird (although I agree with her #message she gave to #nasa #children ): https://www.zerohedge.com/political/its-.. #biden *needs* to stay #alive a little longer, giving power to her would be insanely bad from the #us ...

I'm glad #nasa is taking the #asteroid / #meteor #threat seriously: https://hackaday.com/2021/09/10/nasa-are.. Just like a #global #pandemic - it's not a problem until it suddenly is. The problem is in two parts - first you must #detect it (which is only possible in some directions, sizes and velocities) and then you must do something about it. These are seriously open problems we don't yet have solutions for.

Impressive that the #mars #copter #ingenuity is still going after 6 months and 12 #flights https://phys.org/news/2021-09-months-mar.. Apparently #nasa have now extended the #mission indefinitely.

You know when you're playing a game, and you ask yourself "what if I just add more X"? #spacex has just seemingly done that with 29 #raptor #rocket #engines https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/08/.. Apparently it will have approximately double the thrust of the #saturnv rocket that took #nasa to the #moon ! Will be interesting to see what happens.

Apparently #moon wobble could cause an increase in #flooding in 2030, according to #nasa https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/13/us/mo.. This is supposed to be due to #globalwarming and the #climate - not that there is much we can do about this now. I suppose we can begin fortifying the #seadefences and such.

At this point, I wouldn't rule out the #hubble #telescope having been #hacked https://www.npr.org/2021/06/23/100956735.. Currently #nasa believe it is that some part has #degraded - but we'll see. Fixing a #component failure in #space will be a super pain in the arse in any case.

A cool #hack by #nasa to put dust on the dust-covered #solarpanel of the #rover https://hackaday.com/2021/06/10/sand-hac.. Apparently, counterintuitively, it actually helps remove the dust.
