Interesting #perspective from #car #manufacturers using #clay to #model their #cars https://hackaday.com/2023/03/03/will-car.. Honestly speaking I think we could do a better job with #software #modelling , or even just hammering out panels to suite. The #irony is that really not much original #design happens anyway.

3D #printing is amazing, but it takes forever. I recently got a #new #printer from 2016/2017 and it's taking a really long time to #print a basic #model . The only good side is that it actually works and it was very #cheap . If it #dies after a few months of use, I can #justify getting some better to replace it. If the #novelty wears off after some time, there is no point.

Pretty cool that #yandex have #opensourced a 100 #billion #parameter #model https://github.com/yandex/YaLM-100B That said, you need a #supercomputer to actually run the thing.

#expert #commentary on the current #stockmarket and #quantativetightening #model by #theplainbagel https://youtube.com/watch?v=g9ebtd7UJr4 The answer about whether it is good or bad? They simply *have no idea.* Jesus.

I agree with the use of #forums rather than #message #services https://www.mooreds.com/wordpress/archiv.. I look at something like #pine 's #forum building up quite the #knowledgebase during these days. I always thought that what we are missing is a #hybrid #model - something more towards #reddit 's #ui but with the ability to instantly #reply ... Not entirely sure, more thought required!

Interesting, not put too much thought into #rain #prediction https://deepmind.com/blog/article/nowcas.. Looks like #deepmind have a pretty good prediction #model - very cool.

One of the best lines in the #film #thematrix is "we cannot see past the decisions we do not understand" - it's almost correct, but that sounds better for the film. Actually, we cannot see past the things we cannot #model . One time I was in #asda and burst out laughing, my friends think I've gone mad and ask why. I say "that man stacking bottles is about to drop them", and 5 seconds after he did. You can #predict the #future if you understand the #present ...
Another time I was in a #hmv and #high on #sugar - I saw a man carrying many boxes of #dvds and saw that he was about to collect them. As I saw the future I was able to prevent it and catch them all. In that moment, my #model of that man was good enough that it had #predictivecapability - and so I could act on it.

#uk #mp #mariamiller wants to #ban the existence of #deepfake #tools https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-57.. The problem is, people could still use #photoshop , they could still find a similar looking #model - there are many things people could do. What will definitely be achieved by banning this is progress on the #technology itself, which I think will be a great loss for the #film industry, especially when actors have died for example in the middle of a large series (thinking of #fastandfurious )
