It's insane to me to think that in this day and age there are #maori #families living out of #garages or #cars - zero excuse for that. Apparently this can be because of a #distrust of #white #people . The problem is #complex and something #kiwis actually need to address, rather than brushing it under the carpet.

I understand some of the #historic #issues they have, but #kiwis already self-govern entirely, with the added #protection from the #monarch . The #reality is though that they want to see #white #people gone from the #islands entirely, which is impossible. The situation is complex, but for sure #compromise is needed.

Essentially, for 1000+ years, anything and everything about Maori #culture can only be owned by Maori people, used by Maori people, edited/updated by Maori people, etc. This is the *most* #restrictive #information #license I have *ever* seen. No #publisher could *ever* possibly write anything about Maori people. It's #cultural suicide if people cannot even record it.

You can't have reliable and independent #journalism if you put #race based criteria on #funding ... Imagine for example that you need to be critical of the #maori community - under this funding criteria you are unable to do so. This *doesn't* help them in the long run either, issues in the Maori communities continue to get worse, not better.

There is a *serious misunderstanding* about the difference between #equalopportunity and #equaloutcome - #newzealand has chosen the latter, meaning they #bias against non #maori people. This will *only* serve to create divide. It annoys me to no end to see the work of so many years being undone in the name of #progress - achieving the opposite.
