And people call me mad for using #vim over something like #vscode https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/pull.. Looks like #microsoft just fucked over their #extension #developers and #pretended to consider their #feedback . Some #hackernews #comments suggest this should just be expected: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=346.. Sure, use #microsoft #software and get burned.
#xterm allows for #code #execution via the #font ? https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-secur.. It does #require #vim and #zsh to #exploit , but these are #popular #combinations these days! #debian actually #detected this all the way back in 2008! https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepor..
Again, another reason I use #vim instead of #visual #studio #code by #microsoft https://ghuntley.com/fracture/ In all honesty I could probably #code a reasonable #alternative to #vim in just a few weeks if it only had the #features I regularly use.
Interesting, somebody has gotten #github #copilot to work in #vim via the #terminal https://github.com/maxwell-bland/copilot.. It's not personally for me, I would rather write my own #code for now, but I would be interested to see somebody else's setup and how they can #utilize it.
I agree that things that are cool old things today will still be around tomorrow: https://tylercipriani.com/blog/2022/06/1.. #vim for example is simply just well built and trusty, #vscode as they suggest will not survive.
Interesting #review of the #modern #thinkpad https://127001.me/post/ten-years-of-thin.. Have #insert and #end as the same #key would kill me in #vim - it #excludes me from tonnes of #mechanical #keyboards too. A #palmrest is an important feature. An #ethernet #port is a must, as is an #external #battery ! One thing my old T22 #laptop has is an anti- #glare #display with a #physical #border around the #lcd . Seems like the #ibm / #lenovo #thinkpad is not quite the machine it used to be.
I tried #kakoune as a potential #vim #alternative and it seems quite nice! https://www.redhat.com/sysadmin/kakoune-.. I will say a few things though: missing #line #select with 'V' kind sucks. I also run `:tabe` a lot for running new tabs, and use 'CTRL+SHIFT+<UP/DOWN>' for #navigation . It does seem to be more #user #friendly though - we worth keeping an eye on!
Awesome, #vim is now 30 years old! https://groups.google.com/g/vim_announce.. Long live Vim!
I just saw this #hund #article and am reminded of how super powerful #vim is - this #distraction free #writing #mode #plugin might be *exactly* what I need right now! https://hund.tty1.se/2021/09/23/distract.. In theory it should be easy to install too... I'll give it a go! https://github.com/junegunn/goyo.vim
I personally only use #vim for #coding - I make a point of remembering everything: https://alexander-hansen.dev/blog/benefi.. I believe this puts me at an #advantage for understanding, even if it may cost me some speed.
#nvchad - a #neovim #ide built from #plugins looks excellent, but ultimately is just #bloatware and destroys the good things about #vim https://github.com/NvChad/NvChad Still, it does showcase what an IDE *could* look like with some work!
