#kashmirhill is getting upset that #cancelculture is now being used by people on the right to cancel people on the left: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/29/techn.. The latest victim is #emilywilder who got fired from the #associatedpress - a few weeks after getting the job for anti-Palestine comments. To all this I cannot help but think it's hypocritical, you only realize the negative effects of cancel culture when it affects your political 'side'. Too late.
Bare in mind, it's not as if #kashmirhill hasn't also gone after people in the past: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/10/techn.. I'm not saying she was even wrong to do so either, it's just that releasing information about somebody's internet activities will have some affect on their career opportunities. #journalists have *alot* of power (although that is slowly fading) - and it needs to be used correctly.
