Looks like people are on a massive anti- #elonmusk movement at the moment, this time looking into #starlink and their #capped #data , which is annoyingly #standard across the #isp industry: https://www.pcmag.com/news/starlink-sets.. It's very likely over the top.

A #belgian #isp was under a 250 Gbps #ddos #attack https://issues.edpnet.be/ This is really getting insane. Many people in the #hackernews #comments are also receiving similar attacks: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=285.. It's only a matter of time before other #services and #servers are also attacked.

Interesting, the #uk #isp #sky is actively passing on the #traffic of people they believe are #streaming #football #illegally https://torrentfreak.com/sky-subscribers.. The reason they are working with these #media companies is because they themselves compete for #exclusive #licenses for #livestreaming these events.

*Everybody* knew that #ajitpai - the former leader of the #fcc - was an industry plant with external interests: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2021.. Now it turns out he threw awaya $9 billion USD #fund to #isp companies that shouldn't have received it.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sold on using a #vpn for 'security' - I think they are a major #security #risk ... You have the #logs , the #dns redirection problem, the multiple #isp issue and many other things. We still need a better solution to this problem.

I'm in two minds about the #amazon #mesh https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/05/.. #amazonsidewalk should in general improve everybody's internet on average, but explaining to your #isp that you didn't #torrent movies on your #internet connection will become tougher. Also do you really trust Amazon not to sell your traffic data etc? I don't. And that adds to other problems, such as power usage and radio traffic. It's opt-out!

Apparently an #isp in the #us has done a customer for copyright violation because they chose to torrent a #linux ISO: https://old.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/.. The mostly good guys over at #ubuntu legal are supposed to be looking into it. Hopefully the ISP gets their arse handed to them.
