Very cool, #stablediffusion being used as quite an #effective #image #compression #algorithm https://matthias-buehlmann.medium.com/st.. It basically relies on the fact that #images important to #humans are basically #composed in very #similar ways.

Nice little #embedded #image #format named #pif https://hackaday.com/2022/05/08/creating.. As one of the #hackaday #comments suggests, #lvgl could benefit from using the format over #png !

Pretty cool to be able to #test 15 different #linux #distributions for the #pinephone on one #sd #card ! https://xnux.eu/p-boot-demo/ Hopefully this #demo #image is #automated and kept #updated !

This #image #compression based on #upscaling #ai is pretty cool: https://snufk.in/blog/silly-compression... I could certainly #imagine using this in the future!

The #quiteokimage #format is really nice #lossless #image #compression https://qoiformat.org/ Definitely worth checking out, I hope it sees more wide #adoption !

Happy to #announce that #coffeespace now has #observations where an #image is #displayed to #observe an #important #event https://coffeespace.org.uk/observations... In this case of course it is #ukraine .

Interesting speedy #image #format #qoi https://github.com/phoboslab/qoi Could be interesting to use it on a #backend for a #server that collects #images !

This is a super cool #homebrew #image #compression #algorithm and #implementation https://phoboslab.org/log/2021/11/qoi-fa.. As the #hsckernews #comments point out, this is a really great achievement in #simplicity and #performance https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=293..

I think this is a misrepresentation of using #differing to reduce #image #size https://www.simplethread.com/why-your-we.. I am currently using this for some large images on the #coffeespace #server in newer #articles and have been quite happy with the results so far. The reason for *not* using #webp or #avif is simply #support for older devices.
