Now, I have finally #purchased one! https://shop.m5stack.com/products/m5stac.. It was about $75 #nzd in the end, but it is a project I am passionate about. Apparently at the time of writing, there is now only 1 left! So it's a good job I ordered it when I did!Regarding the #linuxpda #project , I am seriously considering the M5 #stack #core 2 #esp 32 #iot #device https://shop.m5stack.com/products/m5stac.. Okay, it's not #linux , but otherwise it offers everything else I am looking for currently. The ability to program it through the #arduino #environment should also rapidly improve #development too. I had a really good experience (minus some bugs) working on the #digispark !
*Note to self:* The #coffeespace #server running on #debian 8 was sneakily pre-loaded with a bunch of #ufw #firewall #rules that block access from different ports! It is possible to enable them manually though: https://unixcop.com/how-to-open-ports-in.. What a waste of an hour that was - me thinking I had done something wrong!
The idea of #printing a #website for #offline and #indefinite #reading is actually pretty cool: https://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2021/12/.. When I have more #article on #coffeespace I'll consider it! The #opinions will then be #forever #outdated !
#ytoff continues to have been a good #investment in saving #ram and #cpu #resources https://coffeespace.org.uk/projects/ytof.. There are still some #bugs to be addressed for sure, but it is getting pretty close for #primetime on the #coffeespace #server . I would still like to #reduce the #ram usage down from 50-60MB, which seems somewhat #excessive ... I should look to #buffer #connections instead of loading them directly into RAM.

There is still a ways to go.Nice, #ytoff now handles #embedded #urls - something that was bugging me for a while when I checked out #articles on #backreaction , etc: http://backreaction.blogspot.com/2021/10.. Now it handles that case okay, even making a reasonable attempt at trying to fit inside the little #iframe !
Nice #blackfriday #offers for #vps https://lowendbox.com/blog/black-friday-.. I'm looking for a #cheap #server to #replace #coffeespace - paying a little too much currently for what I'm getting with #chicagovps !
Very interesting #discussion on how #pipes work in the #unix #context https://www.netmeister.org/blog/ipcbufs... This is particularly interesting because of a #coffeespace #article I wrote recently on #fastyes https://coffeespace.org.uk/projects/fast.. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make any #improvements on existing #solutions - but it was a good #rabbithole nevertheless!

Some #bug #fixes are still required of course, but it is getting pretty close now! I believe it will be stable enough to #secretly go #live on my #coffeespace #server pretty soon.Successfully #programmed an #invidious #alternative - hopefully now #firefox stops eating my #ram and #cpu #resources . I will continue to test #ytoff #locally until I am confident enough to run it on the #coffeespace #server ... Need to deal with #youtube 's weird #ratelimiting and various other issues. That said, so far it works!
I think this is a misrepresentation of using #differing to reduce #image #size https://www.simplethread.com/why-your-we.. I am currently using this for some large images on the #coffeespace #server in newer #articles and have been quite happy with the results so far. The reason for *not* using #webp or #avif is simply #support for older devices.
#noamchomsky has become a #senile #scared #oldman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpEch0Mc.. #jimmydore correctly points out that his point on #forcing #vaccines is insane. At the same time, I am currently working on a #coffeespace #article on the #nztrafficlight system where #jacinda plans to force a #covid #vaccine #passport ... Scary times.
I'm thinking to code up a #micro #chat #service for the #coffeespace #website that supports #html #post with some very light #js to #load #chat #logs and #telnet so that people can access from the #terminal ... The idea is that it would be ultra #ram #limited - perhaps something like this: https://coffeespace.org.uk/projects/simp.. I think C++ would be the way forwards too.
Looks like some people are looking to #reuse #winturbine #blades as various #shelters ... https://hackaday.com/2021/10/08/can-we-r.. As I mentioned in a previous #coffeespace #article - although #windturbines are a great idea, there are still #challenges to be #solved regarding #recycling https://coffeespace.org.uk/blogs/wind-tu..
I should really do more to #compress the #images on #coffeespace and work harder on images for #deadsocial https://endtimes.dev/why-you-should-dith.. I may try out some #experiments later, apparently #png is way more suitable for #dithering than #jpeg - which has 3 channels baked into the #format ...
Interesting #discussion regarding #gemini - it appears to have some #issues that need to be addressed: https://gerikson.com/blog/comm/Gemini-mi.. Could make for a good #coffeespace #article to explore these ideas.

Perhaps a weekly #collection and #commenting on of interesting links could be cool? I think I would adapt it to become multiple pages and perhaps just #publish a #web version this time to keep it simple... I'm really liking how #coffeespace is looking these days so I'm not so concerned.I like the idea of a " #housecleaning " #daily / #weekly post: https://hund.tty1.se/2021/09/28/housecle.. A #collection of the best links for example. After the end of this month I will consider to begin collecting such a list.
The process of doing a #daily #brief has been extremely useful: https://coffeespace.org.uk/daily/2021-09.. I have realised that I currently have an #optimismfactor of about 2.4 and incorrectly #prioritize non-essential works first. Knowing this, I can now work on these items. This is a result of my #coffeespace #article on #accountability https://coffeespace.org.uk/blogs/account..
