It's #wet #soil and they are now seeing increasing #radiation in that area, 30x #nominal levels... It's entirely possible that the #enclosing #structure of the #reactor has been #damaged with the fighting in the area. There are claims it is just #dust - in any case, not the sort of dust you want to breath in.
An #idea for a #project - a #computer that will run for 100 years. Why? I was thinking recently about how #impressive it is that the #voyager #satellites / #spacecraft have been operating for *44 years* so far, in a high #radiation #environment . We don't have anything even remotely that good as a #controller or anything, let alone a whole computer.
Very interesting, as I expected - it looks like some #raspberrypi 's are still going after 5 years in #space #orbit - meaning that #commercial #hardware is a lot more #robust to #radiation than was made out... https://hackaday.com/2021/09/22/astro-pi.. They are even looking to add *more* of them given the #success of the existing Raspberry Pi's.
Seems like the #emdrive is for sure not producing any #thrust in this #replication #study https://link.springer.com/article/10.100.. It's a shame, but at least we can begin to look at other methods now. I expect that something between this and a #solarsail could be explored in the future... Perhaps a material that #reflects #solar #radiation in one direction and is #transparent in the other.

Yeah... I'm still not entirely sold on there being *zero harm* from #phone #radiation - especially #transmitters https://news.berkeley.edu/2021/07/01/hea.. In high enough energies, even low #frequencies can be troublesome. I don't want a 5G tower next to my head for example.
