Very #serious #zeroday #cve for #chrome and #chromium https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/20.. Lodged a #ticket to #update and #upgrade the #ubuntu #deb #packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc.. Fingers crossed this happens soon.

Eh, when #google #chrome #rollout #manifest v3 I will be dropping in entirely: https://youtube.com/watch?v=CqR5Tv1hC2U It will mean #ublockorigin will no longer be #supported next month! Apparently this may even have some input on #firefox too...

Damn, #chrome #chromium has a pretty #serious #xss #vulnerability in a #newtab https://portswigger.net/daily-swig/dange..

Pretty cool, the #chrome #metal #bullet #effects in the #terminator #movie was actually a #practical #effect - not #cgi https://hackaday.com/2021/11/14/those-bu.. Pretty well executed!

Interesting #idea by #google #chrome to #preconnect #preload #prefetch #prerender #resource https://web.dev/speculative-prerendering.. Kind of feels like something the #browser should do #automatically anyway, with the hints being largely #redundant ...

Ouch, looks like there is an extremely #lowhangingfruit of a #bug that allows for very easy #crashing of the #google #android #chrome #browser https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/iss.. It is completely locking up some #phones as when it crashes it attempts to re-open the problematic #url again!

Fuck me #google #chromium #chrome eats #ram ! 6GB for just 15 or so #tabs in a #web #browser ! Insanity. Meanwhile #firefox is running some 1k tabs and using 1.4GB of #ram - how on earth can #chromium get is so wrong?

This is why I always advise #ublockorigin to everybody I know: https://addons.mozilla.org/blog/ublock-o.. Unfortunately #google #chrome and #chromium disabled the functionality it uses *on purpose* because it was too effective at blocking their main #ad #revenue stream.

Ouch, tonnes of #browser #extensions in #chrome and #chromium use shit tonnes of time to process! https://www.debugbear.com/blog/chrome-ex.. I imagine the story is the same in #firefox too. Currently I run #ublockorigin (block #as and #trackers ), #noscript (by default, disable all #js ) , #privacyredirect (avoid using #twitter , #youtube , #reddit , etc) and #waybackmachine (find archives of websites that fail to load).

I agree with #aardvark (again), this time on #chip shortages: https://aardvark.co.nz/daily/2021/0602.s.. I was hearing over a month ago of a 64 week lead time... I agree that during these times its important to do more with less. I feel like modern processors are actually plenty fast enough. For example, on a friend's #windows laptop, #chrome needs 2GB to open four simple tabs - what the actual fuck! Simply insanity.

Yeah, this is a problem waiting to happen: https://therecord.media/thousands-of-chr.. I also have other gripes with #chrome - like the poor linux support for #chromium and the reliance on crapware like #snap to even start the dumb thing.
